Drug Encampments

Not all homeless are drug addicts.  We advocate helping people who have fallen on hard times get back on their feet.

BUT We have spent enough time visiting "homeless" encampments, however, to know that the people staying in these camps are almost universally drug addicts.  They congregate to buy, sell, trade, and get high.  The camps become centers of illicit drug use, moving stolen goods, physical abuse, and human trafficking.  (We have also found those who are 'just' down on their luck avoid these camps because they recognize the dangers there.)

It is not compassionate to enable drug users to continue to use drugs. It hurts the drug user.  It hurts our community.

348th & 9th Ave S
Easy access to public transportation at the South Federal Way Park & Ride make this location ideal for the drug users.  The West Hylebos Wetlands have paid the price.

320th & 1st
This drug encampment was bustling with shady activity.  Compared to other drug encampments, the crime coming out of this camp seemed very organized.
