2023 CANDIDATES
In 2023, we are focusing on two races: the Federal Way Public School District school board race and the Federal Way Council race.
Choosing a Brighter Future for Our Community
In the heart of our city, big change lies ahead. One that will shape the trajectory of our community for years to come. We stand united against the tide of corruption and empty endorsements that have left our streets in turmoil and our educational institutions struggling. We've witnessed the consequences of misguided policies that prioritize personal gain over community prosperity. The very fabric of our community is at stake and we refuse to stand by while our fellow citizens suffer the consequences.
Our schools are grappling with declining academic standards and low test scores The promise of gentle leniency has proven detrimental, hurting our youth's educational future. Our streets are marred by homelessness and addiction, and our city's reputation is tarnished. These are not just issues; they are urgent calls for change.
We recognize that change starts from the ground up. We may not have the deep pockets or extensive political networks of our opponents, but we stand united with you, the backbone of our community. |

Policy Governance
The current Federal Way school board functions under policy governance. New candidates aim to change how schools are governed in response to the public's desire for more local control. Policy governance is like setting general rules for schools, while the Washington State School Board's Washington Administrative Code (WAC) provides detailed instructions. |
Stand Up Federal Way emailed all candidates a questionnaire and reminder to their campaign email address. Additional details were gathered from candidates' campaign webpages and public meetings.

When voting, consider balancing state laws with community needs to make schools better. Your vote shapes how schools handle challenges while abiding by state rules.
